Anne was an outstandingly sweet, kind, unassuming person. She was, in fact, extraordinary. After graduating from Denby, she went to Vassar. As a young woman, she taught and worked in community politics. Unfortunately, she only lived until she was twenty -four.

I'm at work this morning (I work in a University Library in Philadelphia, PA).  I'm early (it's only 7:39am), so while I'm writing this, I'm listening to Chopin's Nocturnes, played by Brigitte  Engerer, which conjured up Anne for me; it's almost like she's sitting right next to me; I remember, for her birthday in the early '60's I had given her an LP of Chopin's Nocturnes.  Anne was my best friend throughout grade and high school; It was because of Anne's encouragement  that I was able to break away and move to Philadelphia in order to start my classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fines Arts, here in Philadelphia; while she was at Vassar in New York State.  She changed my life the for the better:  Once in a while we would both meet in Manhattan on a Saturday, to go to a play or movie and have lunch.  I still have the books she gave me along with the set of red crystal wine glasses, but most of all, I have her Memory in my Heart.  Whenever I think of Anne, I'm reminded of Porphyry, who was Plotinus' student, in these words: "He left the orb of light solely for the benefit of mankind.  He came as a guide to the few who are born with a divine destiny and struggle to gain the lost region of light, but know not how to break the fetters by which they are detained; who are impatient to leave the obscure cavern of sense, where all is delusion and shadow, and to ascend to the realms of intellect, where all is substance and reality..."  How I miss you, Anne; rest well, my dear friend, until we meet again...

What a wonderful tribute to friendship. I am sorry you lost her so early in life.

I recently found Anne''s senior picture among my memoribilia.  What she wrote to me was so loving and sensitive.  I am so sorry you lost her, Adele.  May she rest in peace.

Anne and I met at Denby. When we learned we shared the same birthday we became fast friends.  Julie Stindt, one of our teachers, became Anne's mentor and our friend. When we graduated from Denby, Julie asked our parents to fly us to New York and said she would take care of us for a week.  She did more than take care of us.  Anne and I came home from New York  to face the world.  Anne  attended and graduated from Vasser.  She went on to inspire and teach others.  Anne  was a beloved friend and is still missed
