Bill and I played hockey together until our early 50's. Sometimes I would just stop in Harper Sport to shoot the breeze. Other times I would see him in the early morning when he was going to work out at the gym and I was going to work. I figured he would out live all of us. I have a lot of good memories of Bill.

Bill and I first met while playing little league baseball at Cannon Rec for the Detroit Tigers. We were attending different grade schools at the time and did not reconnect until Denby High. I played hockey with Billy along with Lloyd, Charlie , Roger Hunwick and others during those years.  We became close friends there that continued to our years at Michigan where we and Charlie Henstock roomed together as freshmen. When I returned to Michigan from the USNA, Annapolis, we were once again reunited at the Sigma Chi house in Ann Arbor. I was fortunate to stay in touch with Bill throughout our adult lives, connecting many times with he and his family. I always enjoyed his stories about the Denby alumnae who had visited Harper Sport Shop recently. Bill's passing was difficult for me and I still struggle to understand it. Bill was our class leader and a very good friend. I encourage everyone in the Detroit area to visit Harper Sport Shop which is now manged by Bill's wife Mary Beth and their two sons(Mike and Mark) . I regret that I will not be able to attend the reunion, but maintain positive thoughts about all my friends from Denby and hope that our paths will cross in the future. I trust that all all attending will have a blast! If you ever find yourself in the DC area, please look me up.

Larry
